DIAL PLATE numbers are faded... can they be "restored?"

I installed this font on my Win7 machine using Control Panel > Font, and tried to use it yesterday for the first time. I'm having a bit of trouble, don't know if it is in the font file, or in my machine. Specifically, when I use the font for a word, the first letter of the word is raised. Later in the word, letters are spaced funny, and occasionally overlap. I tried erasing the bad characters and retyping them individually, but no go.

Example, if I type the phrase "Now is the time" in Times New Roman, then highlight the entire phrase and change the font to Dialface, the display becomes
"Nowi s t he t i me", and the "N" is raised and the "m" and the "e" are overlapped.

Anyone know what is going on?

This is a shot in the dark but try going to settings/updates and see if there is an update for that program. Sometimes there's bugs that are discovered and patched with an update.
