New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about two days ago in a 10 day auction with no reserve and starting at $89.00 ( with thanks for a PM tip from Fabius ) is a matching date 8-59 WE Pink 500 PU Mushroom. Within the first day on eBay, the listing attracted 2 bidders placing 2 bids leaving the current bid at $152.50. I have a feeling there will be some price escalation over the next 8 days, but how much will that be when this auction ends?

NOTE: we will use an $10 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $10 away from prior guesses for this contest. That would be about a 4% gap for this phone but makes it easier to place your guesses.

So, once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the actions ends?

The seller listed it as an "Western Electric 500 P/U "Mushroom" Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and "good condition, some discoloration" with the auction listing description simply saying "Up for bids is a rare Western Electric "mushroom" phone from July/August 1959.  Everything appears to be original, including the pink plastic bulb cover.  The phone and the light bulb do work.  The shell and handset are very early ABS plastic.  The dial bezel, bulb cover, and piece below the lift are soft plastic.  There is some discoloration of the plastic, but there are no cracks or deep scratches.  After I bought this phone a few years ago, I gave it a good cleaning and polishing, so it looks quite good.  I added a modular connector to the end of the line cord so that the phone can easily be connected to a standard phone line.  The light requires a separate power supply."
