It is North  Galion Day for me today. Refurbing the Signal Corps phone and while I had it open I thought I could follow the wires to add a AE dial to a North I have. WRONG!!! I need some help where to put the wires that are on the dial blank....thanks...Doug

Is the phone is already working with a dial blank? If so, put the two wires that are on the same screw (blue and black) on the dial pulsing contacts of the dial.

Blue to outside pulsing contact.
Black to inside pulsing contact.
Red to inside shunt contact.
White to outside shunt contact.

May work better if you move the other end of the red dial wire from L1 to R on the induction coil. (Less pop in your ear when dialing.)

OOPS!  Looking at the other picture, the wiring of the rest of the telephone are not as the diagram!
This may be a little job, the easiest may be to take it back to the original by following the color codes on the diagram.

dsk, other than the strap for the ringer, which wires are different?

They are using "B" for Blue and "BL" for black, so blue goes on outside terminal.

Several may be switched.
I have tried to list wires from-to as a how to get back list.
Those who loos mixed are marked red.
Some of these may switches may compensate or nor do any harm, but still not right.

(2) B (blue) wire from condenser on C is correct in the photo.

(1) "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

(3) BL (black) cap. wire to terminal 3 is correct
(4) Red from dial and red cap. wire on L1 are correct
(5) Orange cap wire on 1 is correct

(7) Green ringer could be moved to L2, but will work if connected to 5 and a jumper run from 5 to L2 as shown in the photo.

So I still don't see any wires out of place, assuming the handset wires are correct (receiver to 2, transmitter to 3-4, and common to R on the induction coil.

To reduce a loud pop when starting to dial and when the dial returns, the red dial wire could be moved from L1 to R.

Did you try swapping blue and black on the dial pulse?

Could be--does the dial tone go away when you disconnect the blue dial lead (from the hook switch)?
