I got this neat orange telephone from Bulgaria. I do not know what the brand is called, but the model is a TA 4100. This phone has already been restored completely today, but have not taken pictures yet, but I do have pictures before restoring.

Interesting ringer.  Good way to conserve space.  I wonder if the inner gong, besides being its own gong, functions as a resonator?

That is a lovely Phone. Where did you get it. Did you need to do much work on it?

I love these cold war Eastern Block telephones.

What is the dial like? How does it feel and sound?

Love that ringer.

I got this phone for Christmas. The dial is really well-built and is quiet with a humming sound to it when it returns. Overall with restoring, it needed no rewiring.

Well, I got one too. Googling it I found this thread. I actually responded to it in december!

Here a some pics of mine.

It was made by Resprom in Bulgaria. The seller says it was made for export to the USSR.

It has slight damage to the left side. But that is repairable.

The plastic is a bit brittle. It is really very simple in construction. The dial scrapes a bit, but it works.

Really happy with it. Payed 7,72 euros for it, ex shipping.

Speaking of Eastern European phones, I just bought this Hungarian one last night: ebay link.

I have a much later version in bright lipstick red.

Looks like it has a modified/cloned GPO Handset No. 3, the transmitter cap is the biggest difference, but the rest looks identical to a No. 3 handset...

The Hunagian phone arrived a little while ago.  The plastic feels and smells somewhat like tenite but is not quite as soft.  The transmitter is very noisy (as I expected).  I was able to dial out and leave myself a voicemail message, but the sound quality was lousy.  Although the handset somewhat resembles a GPO type, the dimensions are different, and the internals are completely different.  The plastic is in good condition but slightly dirty.  After a cleaning and polish, it should at least look very nice.

I look forward to pictures of when it is finished. :-)
