Must be, 'cause around here, fishermen are only getting $4 a pound for lobster today!

By the way, just a hint. If you ever want to make your own, buy a lobster, then stake it out on an ant hill for a couple of weeks. They will clean it out perfectly! No smell, and no meat left. Dad used to make lobster wall plaques that way. Meanwhile, it keeps the ants happy! :)

I just looked through the seller's other items..... There's two 500s, a North frankenphone and an Ericson that have received the same treatment.

I suppose that those phones would be useful for someone who wants to keep their line open.  Nobody would want to carry on a long conversation holding one of those handsets.

I wonder if I could make some quick profits by selling some of my more mundane phones after attaching rats or lizards to the handsets.  Perhaps a handset with a live, poisonous snake attached the the handset.  That would make an artistic statement 8)

It reminds me of the Vincent Price budget horror movie "The Tingler" where this lobster-like thing crawls across the screen and invades the body and kills the person, but instead it invaded the phone.

What's up with covering up where the number card is supposed to go and then putting a label holder on the front and ruining the housing? And those high-water feet? And the beige ITT with its original box that it will now no longer fit inside because it has a flippin' lobster on the handset?

Too bad there are no more phone police.

When we start seeing lobsters on blue plastic 302s or mahogany AE 1As, things will likely get ugly.  Why can't this "artist" stick lobsters to lamps instead?

Matilo Telephones

Ehm, you are aware that this is supposed to be an imitation of the famous lobster phone by Salvador Dali?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobster_Telephone

Strange that the seller makes no mention of this famous artwork, and yet he went through the trouble of making this. Did he not know of this?

It all seems a bit fishy to me...  8)

The way I view this is the seller really doesn't care. If he can sell them for high prices and one hell of a laugh, so be it. I'd guarantee if nothing sells in 45 days he/she could care less! I'd bet this is more for a laugh on their end than an actual screw loose in the head. And hey, if someone actually buys one, WTH, all the better. Good money and a good laugh. That's my take.

These have been listed for a very long time.  I would be shocked if anyone ever purchased one of these at that price!  As much as I love Dali's work I do not care for his "lobster phone".

The high prices are really what has me scratching my head over these.

TelePlay

The first appearance of the Dali Lobster, the real one, was in a post by Stephen Furley on August 4, 2009.

His post of that phone started the "Hideous Telephones" topic which today has 27 pages of nominations an comments on those nominations.

The original Dali Lobster phones sell/sold for real money. The knock offs, eh, whatever . . .
