Someone offered me these two phones today. Wonder if anyone recognizes exactly what they are?

I am guessing PTT Dutch Standard for the one on the left, and Dutch Standard or KTAS for the one on the right?

The telephone on the left appears to be the model 1951 that Ericsson made for the Dutch PTT. Does the handset have a logo on the handle? Mine has a different older style handset.

Won't know until she drops it off - this is the only photo I have of it so far...

The Dutch phone looks like the Ericsson-Rijen PTT phone.  They are quite common here.  The other phone is an Asian imitation of the Danish phone.

On the PTT, what's the pushbutton on the top of the shell under the handset used for?

Most likely an Earth-loop Recall button, looks a tad aftermarket to my eyes though...

It's indeed an earth button and it is original.

Hi All:

The phones were dropped off today and we pretty much hit the nail on the head in identifying them.

The Black one is Dutch PTT and bears the Ericcson name on the handset and in a combined Rijen/Ericcson logo on the base under the phone. It looks to be in reasonably good shape, and will buff up beautifully. The handset cord is only a piece of station wire - I will have t9o replace it with a correct cord.

The other phone is as you suggested of Asian origins, a reproduction of a  European set made in Thailand.

It turned out to be an interesting visit. The lady's daughter learned how to dial a dial phone, and Mom was reminded of the 500 sets and Princesses of her youth. It was fun, and her young daughter was fascinated learning to actually dial a -phone and hearing the phone ring on the other end when she dialed its number successfully!

Thanks!

Hi Remco:

I would love to have an original cord for it - Case, dial, etc. seem in perfect shape. Funny to see the station wire used as a handset cord on such an otherwise perfect phone! Let me know what it will cost in a PM.

Just noticed there is no transmitter element in the handset.

I just took the phone apart to have a look at it - here is a photo of the insides:

Hello Dave,

I can get you a new receiver cord. I can also supply a transmitter element, line cord & plug and connection block if you want.

Just let me know what you would like.

I will be in the US from early December. I can bring the parts and ship them from there to you.

Hi Remco:

I think I can make do with the line cord and connection block - I am just now cutting off the line cord and routing it properly through the old rubber strain relief, and will replace the terminals on the cord tomorrow, so that should take care of it.

I do however need the line cord and transmitter element and whatever strain relief is used where the handset cord comes into the phone (if it isn't molded into the cord.

Let me know either how much I will owe you for the cord, postage, etc. when you send it from the States!

Thanks,

Dave
