Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is so special about this AE wall phone that would make it sell for $364.oo?
stub
Nope, I can't tell you why it went for so high, but five different people bid over $200 for it. I have noticed these AE wooden phones go high lately and all I can think of is Supply & Demand. Is that really a Type 21? I thought the Type 21 was a metal wall phone. Did AE run out of numbers?
I doubt if it would bring more than $100 at a show.
I thnk $75-80 is more likely. At $55 it would be hard for me to resist. I have always been fond of compact wood phones.

Is it just me, or is there really no induction coil in this phone?
I think compact wall phones are getting more popular with collectors, since I bought my first one a few months ago I have seen a few go for more than $250. I have seen a few go for $35 too. Its a highly subjective market I am learning.
Jester,
Mine has the induction coil receiver, the mercedes dial and the hookswitch with the A in it. I just haven't had time to get it all back together. stub
Thanks , Stub-- I forgot AE put the coil in the receiver. Is there a picture of that here or on Paul's site?
This PDF might help answer your question about the coil in the receiver.
Wallphone ,
Here's a pic from the AE Bulletin # 1015 Jan. 1, 1929 that shows the inside of the DC receiver . stub
Thanks Stub, that's much better. Now all you have to do is scan the rest of the book. ;D All I have are the two reproductions from the TCI Store of the 4055 and the 4055-D. I would like to see something on the AE 34 & 35 but my catalogs have nothing on these two models.
Don't forget this thread on the AE Catalogs.....

Hey,
I would be willing to chip in to buy some of the ones we don't have so we could all share!!! WE could get them to Remco and post them in the TCI library. stub

Most are probably already hiding on some of our bookshelves. I was surprised at how many I found when I went looking for them.

Guess I shouldn't have had that R&C tonight...
I know what a 2x4 is. Familiar with SxS too. Not following you though, what's a 4x7?
By the way Stub, nice Turquoise 182 Starlite!

I'd like these bidders to look at my auctions! Who knows... something that we think is ugly just strikes another person's fancy.
mariepr ,
You got that right!!!! stub

Ooohhhh, right. Was it a particular phone model that you were looking for the wiring diagrams for in the pocket guide or just a pocket guide with an assortment of models in it? I have a couple around here but haven't done an inventory to see just wha tis in them.

Terry,
" just a pocket guide with an assortment of models in it"
I try to gather every thing I can find on AE's. stub
