Quick Princess Wire Question....

At least, I hope it's quick.  Otherwise I'll be at TCI looking for the wiring data....

In the attached, does anybody know what the two disconnected wires were for?

This is a 702BM that's marked "702B-2-M" which must be a refurbishment or something.

You don't need to connect those two leads.

The slate and red-slate ringer wires are used only on certain party lines where the subscriber is the Tip Party (ringing from tip to ground) and there is automatic billing for message rate lines and/or long distance. These extra leads are taps in the ringer coil to provide a high resistance to ground when off-hook. This condition is recognized by the Central Office so that the correct party is billed.

702B2M was the code for the Telephone Set Mounting (like H1 is the Tel Set Mtg for a 302).  The installer-repairman could add the correct color housing, cords and handset to make a complete 702BM set in the field.
