The most common "phone from" is "phone from car".
In 1990 Southwestern Bell started promoting other  "Phone From" payphone locations. There were 4 other" Phone from" locations that they made signs for:
"Phone from Horse" (Phone 80"off ground)
"Phone from Bike" (Phone 50" off ground)
"Phone from golf cart" (Phone 50" off ground) Should be 48" same as ADA
"Phone from Boat" (Phone is mounted 36" off dock)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note all mounting heights are to the bottom of the coin slot.
ADA measures from the top of the cradle rest, which happens to be at the same height.

Here is a link to the only article I have been able to find.
The Paper is from "Bend, OR"  Dateline is Oklahoma City  8/30/1990

NOTE:The link brings up "Dear Abby". scroll to the right for " Callers can sit tall in the saddle, Cart"

Those signs are great. Now all you have to do is mount payphone under them at the correct height:)

After I got the signs I was wondering about height.  The article tied them together and gave me the height, I wonder about the golf cart height. The  article has it  the same height as the bike.

I am happy with them. The last sign seems to be "ET" inspired.
Thanks,
Jim S.

In my neighborhood we have Horses, Mountain Bikes, and golf carts, the only boats are on trailers.

As far as I know that once ADA came out there were two heights only 48 inches handicapped 54 inches standard,no exceptions to the bottom of the coin slot. 48 inch handsets on handicapped installs.

For a lady who bikes a lot with not a lot on, she's certainly free from bruises and scrapes...  ;D

War Horse

That's the great thing about this site, every day you learn something new.

A lack of bruises is right.  Did you see some of the other activities she does with nearly no clothes on?  There's one where she's going between in a barb wire fence with nothing on but flowers.  Every time I've tried that I get stabbed no matter what!
