This appears to be converted by Western Electric shop. It is marked 558P. Has a G-type ringer which is also used in 236G pay phones and some 322 elevator phones.

There was a desk version also.Do not know the number though

Looks like a nice phone, but then red phones are nice anyway... :D

It's odd that it's a wallphone with handsfree functionality, unless they fitted them to the wall in office booths to save on desk space or something.... ???

Still nice though... :D

Maybe a 514B? There are lots of the single line desk and 6-button desk sets around. This is the first wall version I've seen.

Nice find, David.

Has anything turned up in the BSPs?  Photos of the internal components and 558P marking would be nice.  Are there any other markings?  Often when additional components were added, a Modification code or drawing number reference was stamped on the backplate.
