I picked up a Telechron 4F69 'Traymore' today at an Antique show.  I suspected that the base was not original but that except for the cord, the rest of the clock was. I loved the fishscale dial and the brass number ring, and the oak base was nicely done.  The seller was asking $15.  I offered $10.  She said 'how about $12'.  I said 'I haven't been to all the booths yet so I'll think about it' and turned to leave.  She said 'OK, you can have it for $10'.

Does anyone else here have one of these?  Can you tell me if the original base was bakelite, plastic, ebony, or painted wood?  If wood, I might try and make one that will look more original.

PS.  here is a link to the Traymore page on telechron.net.

The original base was black bakelite.

Thanks Larry.  I guess I'll have to keep my eye out for a parts clock with a good base.
