Found this at an antique shop a few weeks ago... a soft plastic Northern Electric 500 used as a subset, stamped as a model "450". Matching 3-58 dates too!

That's really interesting.  I have never seen an empty 500 type shell connected to a wood magneto subset box before.  Did WE make these also?

Yep! WECo manufactured the 529A/B but it was intended for use with 100-type key equipments though it probably was used to update subscriber sets on some of their few remaining magneto lines when it was first introduced.

Actually it is a model 450 telephone set (handset mounting?) being used with a NECo N500CG subset and not as a subset.
