Title: Brown AE 50??
Post by: Doug Rose on June 23, 2018, 09:47:11 PM
It looks Black to me, but I know first hand how tough Brown is to photograph. It just came on eBay so I gambled. If you look at the cord coming out in the second picture, it sure looks like the cord is black and the phone is brown. Maybe the code on the back means Brown?? I am trying to convince myself. Its a $60 plus shipping gamble. Janet will understand  8) ....Doug

You are not alone - I did the exact same thing a year ago - this picture from the auction listing convinced me I had won a dark brown AE 50 - yet when received it was black as can be, not even sun faded in the slightest!

It's not Brown but is a lovely Black set that looks like it is Brand New. Bakelite just shines. I am awaiting a nice Chrome retainer ring from Terry to top it off. It is fully functional. It is really a nice set. Trouble is I have a manual AE35 that looks almost identical but with the proper handset. It might be for sale at a later date. It is a good problem..Doug
