Hi there!

I recently picked up this old lineman's phone, and have been unable to figure out what model it is.  It's all metal, and is similar to the 1001s I've seen online, but it has the rotary dial.

I had the transmit and receive elements replaced, and I now have it connected as a retro Bluetooth handset.

Any ides on what it is, and how old?

Thanks!
James

Welcome to the forum.

It's based on the Stromberg Carlson No. 19 handset, which can be seen in a 1942 catalog in the TCI LIbrary here:

That's it; thanks!

I had thought that the dial was a later addition; the housing looks to be original, but the dial itself doesn't really line up.

You're welcome, James.

It was fairly common to find handsets with dials grafted on for use as test sets.

Here's a photo of a similar SC handset with a North dial.
