Inoperative HA1?

Come in Nighthawk

???  What would cause it, and can it be "fixed?"

I "field tested" the capsule in an F1 handset/D1 mount combo that I have that works.  The capsule failed to receive a signal for me to hear the other party calling in, but when I replaced the original working HA1 in the F1 handset, the handset worked again just fine, leading me to believe that my "field test" had identified the HA1 in question as being inoperative.

I'm a newbie, not educated as a "wire head" (am an historian actually), and have no bench test equipment.  Have learned just enuf in a few books and in the forum "to be dangerous" (as we used to say in my previous profession).  I've read else-when here that if an F1 transmitter capsule should ever be demagnetized it is unsalvagable.  Is that what has happened to this HA1?  Is it also kaput?

Many thanks in advance for your advice.   ;)
