Also the yellow wire on the coin relay has been removed. Do I need to do anything with that?

The yellow wire was originally for a ground wire. This isn't needed in order to use your 233 on a regular line.

It would have originally needed to be connected, both to draw dial tone after 10 cents was deposited, and for refund or collect of the deposit at the end of the call. If you decide to purchase or build a pay phone line simulator, the yellow (ground) connection will be needed then.

would I have to put coins in it?

No, you won't have to put coins in. Some relays do short the dial out, in which case you would deposit 10 cents one time and it's good forever.

Since the relay won't operate, it won't reset the coin trigger so all subsequent calls should dial out fine.

Well the phone looks to work fine right now. I would like to thank you for all your help. ;D Only had this set for about 5  years now and finely got it working. The set looks new inside and out.
