Popping sound when dialing a Western Electric 102 B1 wired to a 534A sub-box

I missed seeing this thread before. Pourme's posting put it on my "recent unread topics" radar, leading me to read all of the postings in the thread, Unbeldi's 4/17/15 posting included a unconventional diagram of B mount wiring. His drawing is very educational. It clearly shows the sequence of contacts and components involved versus that contained in a normal diagram.
