Of course.  The phone is part of the 1A speakerphone.  It was one of the first 500-series variations I was lucky enough to collect.  I have two complete working models in my collection...

Here is another example of a 1A Speakerphone where the 656A transmitter is separate from the telephone:

This 592 set sold for a lot less ($120 BIN instead of $1680): It had the wrong speaker--a 759A for a 1A Interphone.

Hi Doug-

It was sold to Mike Zyla, member of both the TCI/ATCA and lives in Pennsylvania.

He is a retired Bell Labs engineer so he probably is well acquainted with and knows the background for this model.

It will be interesting to converse with him about it at the next telephone show.
