Telephone Cable Warning Signs

Cable warning signs are "entry level" and can be found is a variety of styles.  The blue enameled versions are the most well known.  They can be found in two styles:  "DO NOT DISTURB" and "CALL BEFORE DIGGING"

The '39 Bell

The '69 Bell


Later these were made from aluminum, and the color changes to lighter blue

The yellow versions are also pretty common and feature the '39 and '69 Bells:






This Nevada Bell sign recently sold for $150 on eBay





With the break up of Ma Bell, a number of different types of signs were used by it's succesors

The Illinois Bell sign says, Call J.U.L.I.E. I wondered who is Julie. I can't be the only one! Google found it, started in 1974, still active today! Stands for:
Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators.
