Has anyone ever seen one before? I have the wood wall version and I dream about getting a stick....but this is different....Doug

I used to see these years ago more often then I do now. They have always been very sought after. If my memory is correct they used to sell in the 8,000-11,000 range but not sure. You should see the Gray pay-station version. I think there may also be a tandem. As for the sticks when I was putting on the Cincinnati show years ago a guy showed up with a bunch of phones in his trunk. Somebody came and got me and I walked outside with another collector and looked at the phones in this guys trunk.  There were 4 Strowger candlesticks in the trunk mixed up with other phones, two had the steer horn hooks two had the ball hooks. He went inside saw the price of a Strowger on a table marked a 4,000 went back outside got in his car and left. That was it.

AE_Collector

There are several versions of the Strowger that predate the 1905 wall and stick versions that we see reasonably often here or on eBay. The dial mechanism on this one is quite different than the 1905 model. This ones ringer mechanism left for a better gig somewhere unfortunately. Quite a few miles dangling inside though most of the works appear to be mounted in the door so maybe there wasn't much to go in the back part of the box. Should be an interesting auction. Who lists something like this to end on Christmas Day?
