I'm happy I waited and didn't buy the last uniphone I saw. This one is so much nicer. Nice walnut brown and the bakelite is nice and shinny. just a little paint to remove. I even found a matching walnut brown bakelite thermos.

Hi Seb:

Nice find. I have one; they are few and far between, especially in the Number 2's.

You are amassing a fine collection!

At 50$ I don't know that I'd call it a find. But it sure was a way down from the 125$ price tag that was on it when I saw it.

But I agree I'm amassing an interesting collection. What amuses me a little is that I have no 500 nor 302 which seem to be the most common collected models.

Given the fact that it's in walnut, I'd say a $50 price tag definitely makes it a find.  It's a beautiful example.

Still a good find. It took me several years to find mine, then one day Linda and I decided to take a drive to a basement sale near here, and I saw it in a dingy lit basement. It looked black in that lighting, and I already had a black one, but decided to buy it anyway. Good thing I did, when I got it out into the daylight, I discovered it was burled walnut!

Never turn down a burled walnut Uniphone or one with the type NU handset.

Absolutely never turn down one that is beige - thay are so rare, they are almost non-existant. Northern Electric did do a run of them, but the bakelite with all the pigment in it turned out to be unstable, and would flow over time, so most of that run were given to telephone company executives as gifts. Walter Auld, executive vice-president of Island Tel was one of those receiving one, and thankfully, I had the pleasure of seeing it in person.

I paid almost four times that for mine, but it looked like it had the NU handset.  I figured that made it worthwhile and pulled the trigger.  When it got here, I discovered it did not have the NU-- it was wearing a nearly perfect NF!

The handset which replaced the NF handset Uniphones first came out with.

and the multi-sided handset shown in the Uniphone ad I posted above.

I would say that's a "Find" so I nominated it for April's "Find of the Month".

I tuned up the title of this thread a little as well. Did I get the colour name correct Dave?

Hi Terry:

Title is correct... Certainly a contender for Find of the Month - That's another first for you, Seb!
