Hi Folks:

I have just found another tool for the collection on eBay, not rare, but most often they go for a far higher price than they should. Still including shipping, I paid over $40. It is a Bell System Numberall cable stamp. The Cable stamp was used by Splicers to Tag Cable counts on  Lead Tags and sleeves. I don't have the KS number for it, but it was produced by the Numberall Corp,  Huguenot Park S.I. N.Y. This is another of those tools I have been looking for "forever", and this is in beautiful condition.

Nice!

Is yours marked "Bell System?"  I have this photo from an auction I didn't win.

Apparently, but the photo I have so far is of the other side - the actual tool hasn't arrived yet. Mine is also a 3-16.

Yes, it has been a good week. First, I got a notching tool and template on its way, then found this. Both had been on my "want" list for some time. There are a number of tools left, of course I want for the collection, most noteably switchboard cord installation tools and a plug cleaner, but I am gradually ticking those most wanted off the list. Once they come, of course, they will be added to the museum tool display.

Even with a collection of tools as large as we currently have, there is always something left to find :)

Here are examples of the Switchboard Plug Cleaning tools I am looking for. Two types, the

manual one, 384 with 385 chucks,
and automatic, 497a/b

I would be happy to find either type.

There are also several tools designed for installing cords:

312 Cord Cutter

313 Conductor Braid Cutter

317 Plug Remover and Attacher

316 Plug Remover and Attacher

The latter two are for different size plugs.

I would love to find any of these as well, eventually.

Hi Paul:

Mine has arrived and, yes, it is also labelled Bell System and 3-16 on one side, N on the two knurled sides, and Numberall on the 4th side...
