Is it a fake? Modern shell? Dial has a clear plastic finger wheel. Seller, who is in Argentina, says it's 1939 vintage. No pictures of guts or bottom.

I say it is real but doubt the 1939 date

I also believe it to be real.
It's probably made by BTMC or an offspring of theirs for the Argentine telephone company.  Remember that light blue is their national color.
It looks very much like a BTMC 2724 or a close relative.

Late 1930s vintage is entirely possible.
PS: On second thought, I'd say it is later, because of the transparent finger wheel and the  new handset.

Matilo Telephones

The were produced in Argentina in colour and this shade of blue seems to be the most abundant.

The plastic dial is typical. It is probably post war.

The seller does say ca 1939. :-) So 1939-ish.

I learned from a couple of South American collectors that they are very happy that this telephone was offered for sale. They find no problem with this one.:-)

Might be happy but after a day and a half of the 7 day auction, no bids.

Might be the hefty $65 shipping costs tied to the phone.
