New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about a day and a half ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve and starting at $99.99 ( with thanks to Sargeguy for the tip ) is an interesting and rare twisted shaft Sumter S.C. Candlestick. These are rarely seen on eBay. The seller provided a good array of external pictures. Since being listed, the phone has seen some interest in that 5 buyers have pushed the price up to $945. This will be an interesting contest so who best knows what this stick will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $10 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $10 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "Early Twisted Shaft Brass Sumter S.C. Candlestick Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying simply "A beautiful and all original Sumter S.C. Candlestick Telephone in excellent condition with outstanding color and shine with very little wear. Original Brown mouthpiece and original brown Marked Sumter Receiver. A great phone fresh to the market from an early Philadelphia Main Line Mansion."

Just when two members had hopes of catching up with him, what more can I say, after a long drought of just under 30 contests, he pulls out another win for a bit of a cushion.

So, the winner of Auction Contest #282 is Sargeguy who with the second from the last guess of $5,000.00 gave him his 22nd auction contest win extending his lead as the over all leader of contest wins. So, a big congratulations once again goes out to Sargeguy for another win in the CRPF Auction Contests and for putting yet another rung in that ladder known as the Contest Standings list of winners.

This 7 day auction started at $99.99, rose steadily to $1,425 over the first 6 days and then stayed there until end time. It jumped to $1,625 with 15 minutes to go but the fun didn't start until 15 seconds before the end of the contest when it jumped to $4,150 and with 4 seconds to go received 2 snipes. When the dust settled and the eBay computer caught up, it was a***c (13 ) who placed the highest snipe to take the phone home for a mere $5,300.50. The auction attracted 9 bidders placing 19 bids.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
