Title: AE Type - 4 A Extension Monophone Manual
Post by: stub on November 20, 2015, 02:49:05 PM
Here's a manual 4A .  This is the first one I've seen with a 6 leaf hookswitch.
The Type 4 A is identical to the Type 4 except the 4  has no provision for dial . stub

Any I have seen (not many) have the chromed triangular plates on each end for provision of a dial which is what makes me think that a 4 is shipped less dial (but convertible later) and a 4A is shipped complete with the dial. That's just my impression, not from studying the books at all.

Terry,
Here's the last catalog this phone is listed in. AE Catalog 4055-C ,1940 , 17 . I guess it was replaced by the AE 43 in the 4055-D Catalog. The Type 17 Magneto Wall Extension was still in the 4055-D as well.  Hope this helps .  stub
