Title: Identify This Car
Post by: LarryInMichigan on June 04, 2021, 09:19:01 AM
I scanned this picture from my mother's collection of old pictures.  Can someone here identify the model of car in the picture?

Thank You

Larry

Hard to tell from the side. Do you have any pictures with from different angles?

As far as I am aware, this is it.  Had I been there about 110 years ago, I would have made sure to get better pictures :).

My best guess based on the size would be Lasalle.

This car looks to have received some "customizing", as the hood does not mate with the cowl in a normal looking way.  The headlights look like those of a 1916 or so Overland, as does the shape of the grille and the hood panels.

This is too old to be a La Salle.  The La Salle came out in 1927.  This car looks like something around 1915 or so.

As far as I am aware, my great-grandfather is sitting at the steering wheel, and he passed away in 1920, so the picture has to be from before that year.  My grandmother had said that her father had the first car in Rock Island, IL.
