I'm a phone newbie.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Galion, manufactured by the North Electric Company, Galion, Ohio.

Early models were made of metal, the later ones are Bakelite.

I found this link for you, more info here:

And some info on the ringer, I think yours is for a party line:

Yep, definitely a Galion.
I love the cut-away dial - must try and find one for my collection.

There's a Galion up on ebay UK at the moment tubaman, last time I saw it the price was just over £8 BUT no dial and the dial alongside in the pic is a #12.

This is all off the top of my head, I didn't look closely (I already have one the same as the o.p. but not with that nice fingerwheel). I'll try and find the auction for you....

....Bidding at £12.50 at the moment:

@FABphones - sorry, I should have been clearer, it's the dial I want - I have a really nice NOS Galion that I got some year's ago, but I don't have a cut-away dial in my collection at all.
I had spotted that listing on eBay, it's on my watch list, but I don't think I can justify buying it.

Any idea what this one is worth ?

Now I'm intrigued. Where did you get it from?

I bought two of these at a local garage sale.

I also bought a bunch of dial spare parts.

Sounds good. Photos of your finds please (tell us what you paid and more info about your find, it might qualify for the CRPF 'find of the month' competition).

Welcome to CRPF by the way!

Thanks !

Paid $10 per phone.

You did very well as they are definitely worth a lot more than that.
I'm sure that just the cut-away dial is worth a lot more than that!

More photos please!
:)

Edited to add - here's a cutaway fingerwheel at Oldphoneworks - http://www.oldphoneworks.com/automatic-electric-cutaway-fingerwheel.html
I assume a chrome one would be worth more.
That is retail of course, but it gives you an idea.

Cha-ching ?

What additional photos do you want ?

Question. Can I sell this phone on this forum ?

Photos of the other phone and dial spares you got.

There is a 'classifieds' thread on here, but why sell a phone as nice as that!
:)

Ok. I'll take photos of the other items when time allows.

I'm not a collector.

I'd rather it end up in the home of someone who enjoys phone.

levinll,

Are the phones you bought solid black in color?  The one in your pictures looks like it might actually be walnut.  If the bakelite is a color other than black, the value is many times higher.
