This MUST be a rare one! I have never seen a handset cord that was half straight & half coiled ;D

Somewhere back in my memory banks, I seem to recall seeing these in real life.  It's been a long time, though!

The handset cord is somewhat unusual.

It looks like a H4BD Semi Retractile cord. (See C36.101 for a brief mention.)

It's the best of both worlds!

I was going to say "Predecessor of the Ericofon" or the GTE "Flip Phone".

May 1953 date on the 500 set base.

So it is Lugitimate? I was looking for a wad of electrical tape where straight meets coiled!

Never seen one of these cords, interesting.

I think that's a neat idea, giving you that "cordless" feel but with some give to the cable if you move about while using it... :)

The GPO did it with the Trimphone line cable here too from what I know, so you could wander about and not end up pulling wires out of the BT52A on the wall, just giving that little bit of stretch to say "you're straying too far"...  :D

These cords came standard on the Connecticut phones, not the toaster but the other metal military phone. It was 1/2 curly and half straight. I get a picture tomorrow if someone can't find one...Doug
