I emailed the guy, his other auctions seem reasonable.

Ha ha ha, really funny (or not). 

Methinks some people post stuff on Ebay at deliberately outrageous prices just to see if anyone will bite.  After the NOS early 1960s blue WE 500 went for $1000, I saw another one pop up for some price in the mid to high three digits ($500 - 900, can't remember) that was most definitely not NOS and hardly rare.  Probably the seller thought that any light blue 500 was a rarity worthy of a high price, or that such a gambit was at least worth a posting to see what happened.
