hook switch and filter for my 302

pictured below are  a hook switch and filter for my 302, can someone tell me if the 2 wires where my screwdriver is pointing at are supposed to be hooked there, and can I bypass that filter all together? thank you.

You don't need the filter unless you have an AM radio turned on nearby.
