Just found this one in my storage while looking for something else.

It was made by Dutch Ericsson and this model is from 1931, we call it the "high hat".

Very interesting phone, Remco.  Just as Dreyfuss took his inspiration for our 202 from a French phone, it looks like he may have drawn a great deal of inspiration from this one for our 302.

Very interesting phone.  The body kind of reminds me of a Kellogg 1000 series (Red Bar).

This model resembles another Ericsson 1931 model which was used in other countries (e.g. England and Australia).

I will make a photo of the both of them showing that this one is rather high.

As the story goes Dreyfuss was inspired by the 1931 Ericsson model which was produced by engineer Johann Christian Bjerknes of Elektrisk Bureau and Jean Heiberg, an industrial designer. Elektrisk Bureau was a Norwegian Ericsson subsidiary.

High hat indeed!

What an extraordinary looking set, fancy giving us a look at the interior, love to see what's packed into the bottom.
"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Tomorrow I will try to take a few pictures of the interior and post them here.

Here are a few pictures of the interior and few for comparison with the "normal" height model.

I noticed that the black Dutch "normal" height model is slightly smaller than the ivory Australian one in my collection.

What's that little dome underneath the handset?
The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

It just a plug to close a hole that is used for a push button on other similar models. The button was used as a so-called earth button which makesit possible to transfer a call on a pax/pabx.

Ericsson produced a small version with a buzzer and a larger version with a ringer (bell):
