Ideal was more fun when they made toys.   :-\

I don't think we are talking about the same company.  :o

TelePlay

Looks similar to the GTT-200 posted here:

     http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=14095.msg147223#msg147223

and still available at various places for under $8.00 including this listing:

     http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gardner-Bender-GTT-200-Dual-Phone-Line-Tester-/391554887044

Both appear to test line 1 (red green - 3 & 4) and line 2 ( yellow black - (2 & 5) with no test on 1 & 6, white/blue.

So, for $5, you got a deal.

BTW: I don't think it would be legally possible for whatever Ideal company to sell that toy today. Small parts that could break off and be swallowed, open propellers that could cut or blind and maybe even lead paint. Ah, growing up in the 50s with real toys was so much more fun than the round edge one piece plastic stuff they call toys today. I had a balsam wood airplane that worked the same way, but it flew, oh, yeah, another liability there of hurting some innocent bystander.

I think they are a poor cousin that are Made in China, but still can do the job.

I attached the datasheet for the Ideal one.

Here is a used one on eBay.

Yes, not made in Milwaukee (hecho en Chine). Here's the back of the seal pack card and an image of the newer design, more streamline.

When I check the Ebay shipping calculator to Norway, it shows $18.92 shipping for the Fluke (+$30 for item= $48.92)  and $17.69 shipping for the Ideal (+ $18.47 for the item= $36.16). This is for the Ebay "Global Shipping" plan.

However, the post office retail price to Norway is $13.50 up to 8 ounces (First Class International Package).

That is a pretty good evidence of how Ebay' shipping policy "kills" Ebay shopping!
