Title: 302 switch pile assembly help
Post by: helia on December 13, 2013, 10:01:01 PM
Time for a confession:  In my overzealousness, I took the switch pile apart when I was cleaning my 302 phone.  I know!  I KNOW!!!  Dumb.

I took pictures of everything so I thought I put it back together correctly but when I wired the phone up, there's no dial tone on the phone, there's silence on the line from the other phone in my apartment, and there's a busy signal on the line when I call with my cell phone.  If I disconnect the two wires that connect the switch pile to the 101A coil, the phone rings.  It's a four-wire switch pile.

This is what I'm thinking:
1. Find a diagram that shows me how to put it back together;
2. Buy another one and just pretend this never happened;
3. Find someone who can put it back together correctly.

So...  does anyone have a diagram that will help me put this back together or have one they'll sell to me or can fix it for me or know anyone who can?

Suffice it to say, I learned my lesson... never take apart the switch pile no matter how dirty I think it is.

Thanks for your help.

If you ever have to do it again, take a close-up photo and also draw a detailed diagram.  Even then, it's not for the faint of heart.

I have one I can send to you.  PM me with your address.
