Home brew or factory two tone?

Actually, I do not intend on replacing the handset cord, but I would like to replace the line (to wall) cord. It is a very thin gray cord and obviously is not original.

You made me question the date of the casing, and right now I am not sure whether it is 1955 or 1956. 

I attached a picture of the red mask card. I might try to peal off the old number and replace it with an exchange number.
