Most of the thrift stores in my area have closed, and, the few remainning either only carry cd's, or dvd's, or, just choose to carry  only clothes, etc....

My area is loaded with thrift stores, we are a pretty poor area and so they are big business.  Records of all sorts are common and cheap, from pre WW2 78s to 1980's vinyl.  Recently bought a whole bunch of Herb Alpert's stuff, all marked as being property of a "M Hume" from Toronto Canada.  All in perfect shape and only a buck each.
