Title: Vintage Bakelite Pad-O-Fone Telephone Base for Western Electric 202 D1 Oval
Post by: Doug Rose on June 27, 2017, 06:28:43 PM
this went cheap on eBay a few nights ago. Auction stated it was Bakelite, looked like plastic to me. Anyone ever seen one? I would I have felt more comfortable seeing a D1 in it. I passed....just looks too modern to me. Your thoughts?

I do think this is Bakelite.
These were advertised by ads in newspapers in the late 1940s, for TWO DOLLARS. Didn't we have one here before, only for 302 ?
Similar to the Dial-Rite for 302s which was more elaborate with light.
