My uneducated guess is Murdock, off an intercom type unit.

I agree with the above. Dictograph handset.

This looks like a Connecticut Radio and Telephone Co.'s handset, for one of their "Toaster Phones".  Looks to be in great shape.  The early ones like this with the metal name plate were mostly made of a cheap type of plastic that developed lots of shallow cracks on the outside, and were often replaced with WE handsets.
