Books on phones ????

I have just applied for my "learners permit" on  collecting colored 500 sets. I realize I have to get a little knowledge if I am to proceed. Are there any books available that would help me to see just what to look for pertaining to years and colors? I am not really interested in any technical manuals as I would just like to get a few phones  to compliment our signs and colored glass collections. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe some of you folks may have books for sale that have outlived your expertise?
