Hmft, if you can recall back, I bought a 500 P/U at a antique store for 22 dollars and restored it, added light kit, though all its missing is the hood.

But anyway, if you look at this auction, http://goo.gl/grmSf you will see a 500 U up for 889.95 in pink. I was wondering if its a good deal as I have seen one in perfect condition a while back in pink go for 999.99 though it did take a while for it to sell. I wonder if this will get sold...

Kind of makes me want to spray paint mine pink and slap it up on the net for 889.95... Wait, that would be a crime.

I think that is the "bad penny" phone, the one that keeps showing up on eBay for big bucks and was mentioned in at least 2 different threads on this forum. I've remember seeing it listed at least 4 times over the past year or two.

Unfortunately, neither of these two forum links include a picture of the phone and the links within the threads are so old they no longer work for the original listing of the pink mushroom. A good reason to put a photo into a post for posterity. Will include "pink mushroom" here making it easy to find this along with the other similar posts, as suggested by Dennis in the second link below.

One link is from 2010 and the other from 2012. Someone in these earlier posts may be able to verify that this is indeed the same phone.

Edit: And this link . . .

. . . with the last post on that link from AE_Collector saying "It's a regular here on the forum. A priceless collectible!"

Harry, isn't this the same seller who bought your 500U for $127?

I'm sure it's a great phone, but you're right it does keep showing up because none of us wants to pay that much for it.  :-)
Annoying new poster.

Here's this phone's picture from the current July 2013 auction for posterity.

Its kind of discolored and it looks bad.. Now, to you, what is it really worth?

Dan

To me, any mushroom is worth at least a $100, but better deals are out there.......

I have one like this in better condition which I may be selling some time soon.  If someone would like to offer me $889, I would gladly consider the offer :)

I remember someone from this group listing that phone on eBay, after which it popped right back up on eBay with that $889 price tag.
