I have a couple of local battery sets that I'd like to display as accurately as possible; a 102 and N500CG, 250 and N500CG, and an N717CG wall phone. I have the proper Northern Electric battery boxes and am planning on making replica dry cells, but I can't find any information on how the subsets were connected to the batteries. Would a separate two conductor cord have been run, or would a line cord with extra conductors have been used?

have not seen an original install, but would suspect a piece of black, or brown zip cord would be about right???
I think you only need 2 wires.

2-conductor wire from the wall phone or subset to the battery box. Another 2- or 3-conductor from wall phone or subset to the protector. Using "inside wire" which has solid copper conductors.
