I have a 1963 Northern Electric phone that has a hole in the face plate (there was a button put in by someone). Any ideas on how to repair the hole????

Use the forum's search function.  You'll find several good topics including this one:

Since black 500 housings are plentiful, replacing it might save you a lot of time and effort -- unless, of course, you are sentimentally attached to the one you have.

All the other dates on the set are 1963 so I just wanted to keep the set original...some newer housings say Northern Telecom not Northern Electric on them as well..

I have a 1963 black NE housing which needs sanding and polishing. It has a few scratches on it, but nothing sanding won't fix.

Has a dial blank on it. Yours for free, just pay shipping.

Does anyone know of an epoxy or filler that dries black?

I used epoxy resin designed for fiberglass with a black dye to repair my bakelite receiver.

Worked like a charm.

Used this technique:

I've seen this for a red 302:

And I can no longer find the site where I saw something similar for a black 302.  Might have been on this site somewhere...

<edit>
Actually found it:

When all else fails, you can always put a plug in it like I did with an AE 80e.  I just went to Home Despot and found a plug that came close to fitting.  I had to make the hole a wee bit bigger for the plug to fit.
