Anybody collect toys? "Zimphone" in original box at local antique store, $40.00

Saw a pair of these yesterday at a local antique place. They wanted 69.00. I didn't buy them, but did take a picture since I had never seen these before. What are they, just a sort of intercom system?

They are toys, and they aren't worth very much.  There seem to be lots of them around and few people interested in collecting them.
