Hello all - I'm about to embark upon sanding my first WE 302 - however.......a picture's worth a 1000 words!  I've read the posts and seen the "results" - but can anyone who's perhaps in the process post some pictures of the "process" - I'm totally a newbie at this.......   My recently acquired WE302 from 1952 has different scartches/depths all the way around it.....so a project!

Thanks so much - I think this could help many of us new to the refurbishing area!

Jim,

Search on "Mahogany Model 500 Refurbishment" by Dennis Markham.  This thread is one of the best discussions of scratch removal (with great pics) and Dennis is certainly one of the "master sanders" on this forum.

Jim:

I refurbished a 302 some years ago and made a photo album of the process. I made some comments of the sanding process, grits to use, etc.

I invite you to take a look at it at:

However, Dennis Markham hit it over the fence on this 302 he fixed:

Jorge - I am so appreciative of the kind comments and suggestions.  The photo album is a great inspiration!  I've ordere the NOVUS 123 - do you know if I can still obtain the rubber dial gasket - mine just crumbled.  It appears my case was manufactured 3 6 1952 - 2 shift as well.   I'm anxious to try the sanding methods suggested using the NOVUS first and then on to the wet sanding if need be.  It appears my gongs are not brass - a metal of some sort - 41B stamped on the bottom.

I will take some before and after pictures as well - this one is a project! But I'm enjoying it so much.

Thanks all
Jim
