I just won a S-C 1211 and received it yesterday. I always liked the looks of these phones, even if they were never used in my area.
do any members here have one?
One of my favorite looking wall phones of all time but I don't have one. I also like the AE 50, but don't have one of those either. Sigh. Congrats, Steve. What did you pay for it? And does it have a dial or not? Would love to see pictures, exterior and interior. -Matt
I won it for $30.00 . it's the dial-less version, but from what I understand, the dial can be added. I was bidding on a dial version a few weeks ago, but it went for almost $200.00. The phone seems pretty clean after looking it over a bit, just a small tight crack at the top of the receiver. I'll have to wait a day or two before I can open it up.
Nice phone. Looks like batman could use it.
that's a really nice phone that you got steve and fairly at a good price
Okay, I still haven't opened it up yet, but I gave it a quick wipe down and took some pics.
any advice on these from those who have one?
that's really nice, is it Bakelite or plastic?
Bakelite :)
Holy Hotline Batman, what a great phone! Totally worth the 30 clams, if I had one it'd get pride of place.
That phone is awesome!!!

Resurrecting an old thread because it came up in my google search for one of these phones. Did you ever find a dial for it?
Probably the coolest telephone design ever.
If I ever see one
the attack will be
as usual
at dawn.

The expression in your avatar fits your post, hehe! I can almost hear ol' CG.
The OP, Steve, was on as recently as November, that's why I felt it worth the while to resurrect the thread. Steve, you out there? We want an update on your 1211 phone.
Yes, I also miss Steve. Good guy, from up around here.
Do you mean Steve who had a six shooter in his avatar?
I'm not for or against guns or rifles but I'll send him an Xmas email about telephones.
As long as everyone remembers that this thread is about trying to find an affordable SC 1211 for Brinybay/Greg then count me in.

I'm glad. My dad's in the Gun business, and real estate.
I do respect your father, Tom. But I am not at liberty to discuss guns and real estate in polite society on this forum.
All that aside, the Stromberg Carlson 1211 is an awesome telephone and I hope we can help find an affordable one for Brinybay.

Or even not-so-affordable ones, that's never stopped me from getting something I really want. Steve's was a real bargain.
That very cool car is missing it's headlights. But you see it does have a split windshield!

The SC 1211 looks, to me, like a car.
Happy New Year.
Does look like a car not that you mention it, sorta Batmobile merged with a Hudson.
I thought my ears were burning!
Hows everyone doing? sorry I haven't been around. been busy, and haven't had time for phones. :( sacrilege, I know.
Hope everyone's had a great holiday.
Steve
No problem Steve, we were just about to divy up your phones however, and you missed the free giveaway of WE 1949 500s that happened last month. ;)
Good to hear from you Steve. I took about six months off the forum too. So I missed out on those giveaway '49 500's too. ;)

We were wondering if you ever got a dial for your SC 1211.
Sorry, I missed your reply in this thread Briny.
No, I haven't come up with a dial yet, and the ringer is not a S.L. either :(
I have it on the wall in the new dining room now. it works as an extension but I haven't run a line to it yet. I ran across another thread a bit ago where you were looking at a white one. I really like the looks of that one!
if I had one that needed to be painted, I would consider that or a nile green. seems to be a natural fit. I wonder if they originally offered any in colors?

The emerald green one in OPW was awesome. I'm a little reluctant to paint phones though. Reminds me of what Henry Ford once said about his early cars: "You can have any color you want, as long as it's black!"
