4H dial vs 5H dial

Is it possible to spot any difference between the face of a 4H compared to a 5H dial, say from a picture on Ebay?  And...why mechanically do the 4H dials sound so different?  I have yet to see a 4H in person, just read about the pleasing clicking sound.

You can't tell from the front.  If you can get the seller to send you a photo of the back of the dial, though, you can tell the difference.  The "W" terminal is above the switchstack on a 4, and below it (closer to the other terminals) on a 5. 

Asking the seller what number is stamped on the back of the dial is another idea, but you have to be careful--if the seller posts that question at the bottom of the auction, it will tip off all other potential buyers, and the price will skyrocket if it turns out to be a 4.
