Nice Blue AE 500 Clone

Just stumbled across this nice looking Blue AE 500 clone. Very nice color. The base looks strange to me, not what I usually see on an AE phone and no markings at all. It also appears to be empty inside or at least missing a ringer.

I would not call a type 80 a clone Nothing in common with a 500 set . in fact i think it was better in some ways than a 500 set ..Nice that the blue has not yellowed

Agreed. I have always liked the appearance of the AE phones. For some reason this one just looked more like a 500 than what I remember from the 80's I restored a few years back. When I first saw it I though it was a 500, until I read the title. Maybe it's just me??

He might could get that price if it was an old potted chrome plunger type like I have.

Those older bodies were ruined if you left them out in the cold a few times...Dried out the plastic, and I ended up cracking the front of mine when taking the body off.....Tried to smooth it out with acetone, and ended up ruining the whole body....

Still looking for a body in this color.....
