LOL  !  I have to laugh....  I was looking on eBay this morning and this popped up right before my eyes....

not knowing too much about old phones.... I was thinking that it was something someone put together.....

then.....  a few minutes later.... before I could come to my senses... it was GONE !   HAHAHAHA  !
how about THAT ?

I have since looked online to discover exactly what it was.
I didn't jump on it right away because....  I wasn't sure what I was looking .... and..... I am REALLY short on funds at the moment......  so .... I would have had to let it pass anyway....

so ....did someone here pick this up today ?
just thought I would ask.

Looks like a black housing painted maroon.

Nice old 500 otherwise (1951).

From paul-f's site

they started in 1954. And, that color of red/brown never existed at WE. Look at the bottom photo at the edge of the plastic, it's black. At least it seems that way. Others who know better may differ and correct me on this.

Seems to be a bit of deep red on one edge (in focus would have been easier to see).

WOW JOHN !   you have sharp eyes.... I would have NEVER seen that chipped paint sticking out.
I guess I better study up on phones if I am gonna look for interesting things.
