I bought a new computer a year ago. It was equipped with Microsoft Office. What I didn't know was it is only a 1 year subscription. Can someone recommend a freeware/shareware version off Office? Thanks.

Tom   ....     Take a look at Apache Open Office.   It's free, and from what I read about it, it does pretty much what MS Office does.     There are other free ware programs out there as well, and if you Google "free office software", most of them will come up.

Here's the link for Apache Open Office :  https://www.openoffice.org/why/why_free.html

The open office is used by the schools in this municipality, in addition I have good experience with the online office programs who is a part of my Gmail service.  For pdf and word only Ableword is a good free software. www.ableword.net
I do actually have ableword on my pc together with Microsoft Office 2010.  At job we have Microsoft Office 2016 and I do not need ableword there.

I use LibreOffice (which is a spinoff from OpenOffice), free, simple to use if you're used to older versions of MS Office, and feature packed... :)

you know, I never got used to open office or libre office... the feature just don't match Microsoft office. you can DL MS-Office through Divx crawler.com and get a key generator from the same source... I got a copy of Office 2016 pro and had it on my system for awhile... but, I will agree.... free is always better....
