They say that if it were to support VGA, it would have increased the cost of the computer significantly as the on chip video is Hi Def. And to what benefit? Most new monitors and TVs support HDMI - VGA is old technology at best. There are VGA converters available for them, but the cost is much more than the cost of the computer.

Oddly, thought, the chip offers native support for composite video, an even older technology, but of course not in HI Def :)

HDMI LCD TVs are inexpensive as fried potato sticks these days anyway, so no real need to look at using a VGA monitor really, an some TVs even have VGA input aswell so you can still use it with an older non-DVI/HDMI computer if you need to... :)

I finally bought myself a case for my rPi, basically the same as Dave's clear case, not the best case I'm sure, but it's better than having it completely nekkid and being dragged about by cables connected to it... :)

And I've still yet to find a use for it... ;D
