was it green ?...... it might have been a shield bug and so perfectly harmless.

Yes, always make sure it is an actual invasive or harmful species before squashing.

I concur. Only squash the "problem" bugs.

BTW here in Colo. the bugs are few, small, and slow moving. Not like some areas in the US.

We get a few of the green ones, likely the Shield Bug here in the Vancouver area. I couldn't see a size reference for them but here their body is up to almost an inch long but probably not quite. 3/4" for sure.

Looks like we are going to need an "Off Topic - BUGS" area on the forum! At least it can be used for real bugs as well as software and design bugs maybe.
